Rijnstraat 40-2, in the middle of the Rivierenbuurt. A historic Amsterdam pre-war neighbourhood. Defined by Berlage’s famous Plan Zuid with its many impressive streets and architecture. Rich in Amsterdam history and now one of the city's most lively, liveable and convenient neighborhoods.

 

Around the corner many beautiful examples of buildings from 100 years ago in the beautiful and unique Amsterdam School style. The Amstel River and its bustling urban water vibe with cafes and restaurants, rowing clubs, paddle board rental and even a dip in the water on sultry summer days. Park Somerlust and George Marina are also close by.

 

You’ll find lots of restaurants and cafes nearby including Cafe De Amstel on the Amstelkade, and the reincarnation of the 101 year old Rijnbar in the Rijnstraat, two authentic Rivierenbuurt cafes of stature.

 

Within a stone’s throw of your front door you’ll find several supermarkets, drugstores, pharmacy and numerous other non-food and (artisanal) food stores. Essentially everything you need for everyday life is right next door.

 

And a few minutes up the street you have the Albert Cuyp Market and then the center. Want to go somewhere? Easy! You have multiple tram and (night) bus lines to all parts of the city, the Amstel Station is actually within walking distance with frequent trains to all corners of the country and beyond, and you also have a second train station at the RAI and even a direct bus to Station South. And all the main highways leading in and out of the city – A10, A1, A2 and A4 – are minutes away.

 

Thanks to the HR++ glass and modern window frames (2008) at the front, you'll be amazed at how quiet the house is. And at the back with its apartment-wide balcony of 8.5 meters, it is extremely quiet. In the evening with sunset you often hear the birds. And if you keep the wide doors of the large back room open, you can hear the day start with bird talk and song. And the sunsets! Oh, wow, the sunsets!
